Sonavation, Inc. designs and manufactures biometric sensors for the consumer electronics market to enable device and network security. We are planning to apply this patented sensor technology to medical applications. This position offers a tremendous opportunity to grow with this newly established medical division.
This engineer must be able to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with designers, applications engineers and contract design and manufacturing organizations. Excellent program management skills are required.
Responsibility –
Candidate will be responsible for array probe construction, design and assembly of the functional layers ( matching, piezo-substrate, flextape interconnect, backing) and full scale (electric and acoustic) probe evaluation.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Design of functional array probe components: multi-layer matching, piezo-substrate, multi-layer flex interconnect, support backing
- Identify and develop appropriate bond and packaging technologies for probe assembly
- Use existing FEM tools (PZFlex) for probe design or collaborate closely with FEM Team
- Lead the design and set-up of (automated) probe evaluation and qualification according to existing standards (AIUM-NEMA, IEC)
Skills – Candidate should have minimum 5 years ultrasound transducer design, manufacturing and probe qualification experience in ultrasonic imaging or high frequency ultrasonic NDT

- Strong ultrasound imaging background
- Experience in writing scripts in MatLab and/or LabView
- Experience using FEM transducer design tools
- Communicate complex technical data and ideas to development partners
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must
Bonus – Knowledge of catheter based ultrasound imaging.
Education – Minimum MSEE or Biomedical/Physics preferred with solid background in ultrasound physics
Travel - The person in this position must be willing to travel about 20% of time, including internationally.
